attorneyjay > Same location as previous photo except looking at barrier from opposite side of the road (west side)
attorneyjay > Closer look at barrier at south end of blocked original road
attorneyjay > Route 61 northbound now curves to the right and detours around the original, damaged road for a mile or two until arriving at the outskirts of Centralia.
attorneyjay > This is the north barrier for the original Route 61. You are loking south, away from Centralia.
attorneyjay > Now standing behind the north barrier, looking north (toward Centralia). This is the original Route 61.
attorneyjay > Standing close to the same place as prior photo but looking in opposite direction (south) at original Route 61. I did not have time to walk down to the part of the road damaged by the coal fire.
attorneyjay > At the south end of town looking at burned up ground with smoke from underground fire rising to surface. This was the town landfill in the 60s and prior.
attorneyjay > On a hill at south end of town looking northeast at center of town. Thirty years ago this view was filled with houses and other buildings. Three row houses remain at right - the red brick columns provide support once supplied by adjoining row homes.
