Although my hometown is Middlebury, almost all shopping and many other activities were done in adjacent Waterbury. It was an industrial, blue collar city of about 108,000 in the 60s and 70s (Middlebury was about 6000). Hence, these memories of places I frequented while growing up.
Site of former convalescent home across from the A & P on West Main Street in Waterbury where I had my first post-high school job, and first full-time job ever. I was a kitchen assistant. My grandfather Kalashnik spent his last month of life in the now replaced facility.
